“Share Your Christmas,” the annual drive that assists children of needy families in Texas County, began last week with 96 applications for assistance.
The campaign was launched several years ago by the Houston Herald and is headquartered in the basement of the Houston Lions Club on North U.S. 63, with Pat Miller as its coordinator. Anyone wanting to adopt a family, donate or offer assistance can visit the headquarters. At the top of the needs list are new toys, children’s clothing and good used items of all sizes, such as children’s clothing of all sizes, shoes, toys and household items.
Applications are accepted 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline is Dec. 11. Participants will soon be able to adopt a case by taking angels that detail kids’ needs and requests off of a Christmas tree at the Houston Walmart Supercenter. Monetary donations can also be sent to Share Your Christmas, P.O. Box 170, Houston, Mo., 65483.

“The campaign helps make the holiday brighter for those who have little,” Miller said.
