Texas County's jobless rate was 5.7 percent in October.

Texas County’s unemployment rate continues its fall, dropping three-tenths of a percentage point to 5.7 percent in October compared to the previous month. It was 7.3 percent in September.

The agency said the civilian work force in the county stood at 9,697, which was up about 200 from the prior month. Unemployed stood at 555.

Area counties and their unemployment rates were: Douglas, 7; Howell, 5.9; Shannon, 6.9; and Wright, 5.5. The average in south-central Missouri was 5.9 percent.
