RICHARD D. PRICE

A 62-year-old Elk Creek man faces numerous felony charges and is held in the Texas County Jail on $500,000 bond after an incident last week in which he allegedly assaulted his neighbor.

As a result of an investigation by a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy, Richard D. Price, 62, of 17510 Highway Y, Lot G, in Elk Creek, is charged with felonies of second-degree assault, second-degree burglary and three counts of armed criminal action, as well as misdemeanor second degree property damage.

The case began when a man came into the Texas County Sheriff’s Department office at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, and complained that his neighbor – Price – had come to his residence brandishing a metal pipe. In a probable cause statement sent to the county prosecutor, an investigating officer stated Price had assaulted the neighbor with the pipe after also using it to break into the home.

Price is also alleged to have attempted to hook a chain to the man’s truck, and in doing so backed into it, causing major damage.
