Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 43-year-old woman came to the TCSD office Dec. 4 to report being assaulted by a man two days earlier in Temple City, Ga.

The woman said she had fled to her mother’s home in Cabool. A deputy observed bruises on her right cheek, right arm and left thigh, and photos were taken as evidence. The woman stated that her 15-year-old daughter had also been assaulted during the incident.

A report was sent to authorities in Temple City, Ga.

•A 64-year-old Bucyrus man called Dec. 13 to report that a Stihl chainsaw valued at $381 had been stolen from the garage of his Plum Valley Road residence.

•A 47-year-old Licking woman reported Dec. 13 that her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am (valued at $2,030) was missing.

The woman told an investigating officer the car had broken down Dec. 11 at U.S. 63 and Highway P. She stated she had pulled it into a gravel lot and when she returned the next day to pick it up, it was gone.

The woman later called back and said the car hadn’t been stolen, but that the owner of the property where she had parked it had called a company and had it towed away.

•A deputy was dispatched Dec. 11 regarding a report of harassment at a Hickory Drive residence at Plato.

A 38-year-old Plato woman who lives there told the officer a 55-year-old neighbor woman was continuously harassing her and her children. She stated that there were 1-inch by 1-inch square pieces of metal sticking up in the roadway that morning by her Hickory Drive residence.

The officer was unable to locate the metal pieces, and the woman said her daughter had gathered them and thrown them into the neighbor’s yard. Investigation of the matter continues.

•A deputy investigated a man’s report Dec. 10 that construction materials had been dumped on his Stone Ridge Road property.

The man told the officer he and another man who had been doing work for him had gotten into a fight over how work was being done, and that the other man had left and returned and dumped old doors on his property. The construction worker told the officer he had dumped the doors because the man had said he wished he had his old door back.

•A 30-year-old Bucyrus man reported Dec. 8 that a water heater had been damaged at his Highway 17 trailer home.

•A deputy investigated a report of a woman dressed in black with lights getting close to traffic on U.S. 63 near Durham Road at about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11. The officer was unable to locate her.

•A deputy investigated a report of a dead horse in a field on Malberg Road at Cabool. The officer determined it probably died of natural causes.

•A deputy responded to a report on Dec. 10 that a riding mower valued at $1,829 and other items had been stolen from a 77-year-old woman’s Highway 181 residence at Cabool. Investigation continues.

•A 51-year-old Plato man reported on Dec. 10 that one of several cabins he owns at a Slabtown Road trail riding facility had burned down.
