The Texas County Food Pantry recently held its annual volunteer appreciation Christmas party at First Christian Church in Houston.
More than 60 sixty volunteers and family members attended. The volunteers were also entered into a drawing for a door prize.
The food pantry also recognized volunteers for their service to their communities. David and Linda Roberts, of Licking, were recognized for their service to the Texas County Salvation Army. Cabool resident Dorothy Taylor – who runs the pantry’s thrift store on Wednesdays and Thursdays – was also recognized. “Dorothy always strives to do what she can to help families in need in the area,” said pantry director Bennie Cook. “I think we have some of the best volunteers in the area, who understand the food pantry’s mission and truly want to help make our clients’ lives better.”
The food pantry has many volunteer positions available and is currently seeking help with data entry, answering phones, newsletter management, volunteer coordination, sorting clothes, transporting clothing and fundraiser coordination.
