Senior Sarah Kelley is 11 points away from 1,000 for her career entering tonight's championship game of the Lady Bulldog Invitational.

The Houston High School girls’ basketball team set high preseason aspirations. Tonight they attempt to achieve the first of what they hope are multiple championships this season.

The second-seeded Lady Tigers face top-seeded Salem at 7 p.m. in the title game of the Lady Bulldog Invitational.

Another storyline for the game is senior Sarah Kelley’s pursuit of 1,000 career points. She enters the game 11 points shy of the milestone.

Houston (4-1), ranked 10th in Class 3, advanced to the championship game with a 48-44 opening victory against Dora and 63-60 semifinal win over Willow Springs.

Kelley is averaging 17.4 points on 54-percent shooting and 9.6 rebounds per game. Jaydin Ramsey averages nine points per game and Abby Casper is scoring 8.6 per game.

The Houston defense is averaging 17.2 steals per game with Casper leading the way with an average of 3.8. Kelley averages 3.2 steals and 1.7 blocks.

The Lady Tigers have struggled with their shooting through five games. They are shooting 41.6 percent from the field, 26.5 percent from beyond the arc and 59.5 percent at the free-throw line.
