Leon Elwin Stogsdill, 80, son of Hubert L Stogsdill and Caroline (Gutch) Stogsdill Fletchall, was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Cabool, Mo. He passed away Dec. 27, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, Hubert Stogsdill and Darwin Stogsdill; and sister-in-law, Gayla (Kinslow) Stogsdill.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Russell) Stogsdill; three children, Randy (Lorrie) Stogsdill of Linchfield, Ariz., Lori (Dan) VonZynda of Oscoda, Mich., and Sherri (Les) May of Houston, Mo.; three grandsons, Jordan, Tyler and Nicholas VonZynda of Mich.; one granddaughter, Denay (Josh) Green of Cabool, Mo.; one great-granddaughter, Ember; one brother, Dean (Virginia) Stogsdill; three sisters, Shirley (Dean) Larson, Rosana Ream and Fonda Jean Carroll; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Stogsdill of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Leon was born and raised in Cabool, Mo. He was one of seven children. He went to Cabool High School and graduated in 1953. He left the night of graduation for Flint, Mich., in search of a good job. There he met and married his wife, Jacqueline (Russell) Stogsdill in 1954, and to this union three children were born.
He worked for the city of Flint, Mich., for 27 years before retiring and moving to Houston, Mo. In 1983 they built their own home and opened 4th Gear Parts, which he ran for several years.
Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR races. He looked forward to visiting with family and friends.
No services are planned. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
