Sales tax revenue climbed during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Houston merchants collected 13 percent more in sales tax revenue during the latest monthly distribution compared to the same period in 2014, the Missouri Department of Revenue reported.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $70,060, which is up $8,052 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $655,908 has been collected. That’s up 3.3 percent in the first 11 months of the year – compared to the same period a year ago.

Retailers also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility improvements. Each contributed $17,055, up $2,260 on both.

An eighth-cent sales tax for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $8,528.
