William Wallace “Uncle Bill” Roberts, 94, of Cabool, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016.

He was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Barnes, Texas, son of Martin Luther and Annie Ola Stanley Roberts. He and Nadine Christine Riley were married June of 1941.

He grew up in Texas and began working at a young age. He was a master carpenter by trade.

Bill served in the Army during WWII. He entered June 29, 1944, and was honorably discharged March 13, 1946.

He enjoyed building things –– anything from fiddles to furniture. He loved people and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Nadine Roberts; a sister, Fairbia Turner; and a grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Mitcham of Cabool and Judy Rizer of Omaha, Neb.; two sons, William Roberts of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Roberts of Woodville, Texas; a brother, Vernon Roberts of New Mexico; four sisters, Willie Doan, Glenn Heil, Eva Witcher and Mary Flowers, all of Texas; 20 grandchildren; and numerous, great- and great-great grandchildren as well as other family members and friends.

Services were Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Providence Freewill Baptist Church with Dennis Adkison and Ben Walker officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
