Personnel with the City of Houston Fire Department responded late last Friday night to a structure fire at 123 Remington Circle.
Houston Fire Chief Joey Moore said the residents of the home – Jon Southworth and Christy Hall – had arrived home to find it full of smoke. At 11:27 p.m., two City of Houston trucks responded with 12 firefighters, while the Houston Rural FD responded with two trucks and three firefighters.
Moore said a firefighter who lives nearby arrived on scene first and located the fire in the living room on the first floor of the two-story residence. Assisted by two Houston Police Department officers, the firefighter used two fire extinguishers in an attempt to knock down the flames. When additional firefighters arrived, they were able to make entry to the house and extinguish the blaze.
Flame damage was contained to the living room area, but there was extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the residence. Moore said he was unsure of the exact cause of the fire, but it appeared to be electrical.
