Houston police officers recently handled several investigations. 

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Brett A. Martin, 32, of Shawnee, Okla., was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and speeding after a traffic stop on Highway 17 just before midnight Jan. 17.

•A 28-year-old Iowa woman called Jan. 11 to report that a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am had been stolen.

The woman told an investigating officer her 30-year-old brother had driven the vehicle to Houston and parked it Dec. 31 in the lot at Miller’s Grill with the keys in the ignition. She stated that her brother retuned the next day and the car was gone.

The brother reportedly named another man as a suspect. Investigation of the case continues.

•At about 8:30 a.m. Jan. 9, a man who owns a business on Grand Avenue came to the police station to report that a Coca Cola machine in front of the store had been broken into. The man stated the dollar changer and coin changer had been removed and $15 in bills and about $75 in coins had been stolen.

There are no suspects.

•An officer on patrol at about 8 p.m. Jan. 10 observed that the Pepsi machine in front of Elmore’s Men’s and Boys’ Wear on Grand Avenue had been damaged.

The officer reported that damage indicated a tool was likely used in an attempt to access the lock on the machine. There are no suspects.

•A man reported on Jan. 15 that a lawn mower valued at $180 had been swiped from his Oak Street residence. There are no suspects.

•Michelle R. Neal, 34, of 902 Dooley St. in Houston, was issued a citation for stealing under $500 after allegedly shoplifting several items from Walmart on Jan. 7 (with a total value of $81).

•Dustin M. Higby, 21, of 7515 Morning Sun Drive in Mountain Grove, was issued a citation for stealing under $500 after allegedly shoplifting a coat and a cap from Walmart on Jan. 6.

•Patrick L. Vaughn, 25, of 8198 Morton Road, lot 2, in Houston, was issued a citation for stealing under $500 after allegedly shoplifting a bottle of liquor from Walmart on Dec. 31.
