Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•Three deputies responded at about 4:40 p.m. Jan. 10 to a reported disturbance at a Highway AF residence at Licking.

The landlord was reportedly angry about the tenant’s son staying in the home. Officers explained his options and advised him how he could get eviction papers.

•A Willow Springs man called at about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 10 to report his wife was drunk and wanted to drive away from his Chapel Road residence. The man said he was holding her down so she wouldn’t drive drunk.

An investigating officer also determined the woman’s daughter had assaulted her, but the woman didn’t wish to pursue charges. She also refused treatment by medical personnel who arrived on the scene.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 9 a.m. Jan. 10 regarding a dispute between a man and woman at a Sunshine Drive residence at Mountain Grove. The officer determined the incident began when the man found a shirt with a hole in it inside a chest of drawers.

•A 38-year-old Cabool man came to the TCSD office Jan. 7 to report that 300 DVDs had been stolen from a cabin he owns on Russell Drive. The man told an investigating officer his daughter and her boyfriend might be involved.

•A 50-year-old Mountain View man called Jan. 6 to report someone had put a dead chicken in the mailbox at his Mount Olive Road residence. There are no suspects.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 2 p.m. Jan. 5 regarding a report of an assault at the New Life USA Rehabilitation Center near Cabool.

After an investigation, the officer determined a 31-year-old man had hit a 60-year-old man in the head with a metal cane and struck him several times with his hands. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a felony second-degree assault charge against the alleged assailant.

•A Mountain Grove man called Dec. 31 to report that trash had been dumped on his Pleasant Hill Road property.

An investigating officer found a letter with a woman’s name on it in the trash. The woman was contacted, and she and her boyfriend went to the scene and cleaned up the trash.
