Senior Kobe Sutton led three players in double figures with 20 points as the Houston Tigers beat Koshkonong 67-41 Friday night.
Skylur Malam and Keegan Spurlin added 11 points apiece for the Tigers in their win in the consolation bracket of the Liberty Invitational.
It was the fifth victory of the season for HHS –– two more than last year’s total.
The Tigers (5-11) raced ahead 22-12 after the opening quarter and cruised the rest of the way.
“We were able to create enough turnovers to get some transition points,” Houston coach Robert James said.
In the opening round last Wednesday, Lucas Kelley scored 12 points and Skylur Malam had 11 in a 55-43 loss to Alton.
The Tigers trailed 25-24 at the break but were outscored 30-19 in the second half.
After beating Koshkonong to advance to the consolation finals, Houston was beaten 60-40 Saturday night by Eminence.
Nathan Poynter and Kobe Sutton scored eight points apiece to lead the Tigers.
Houston managed just three third-quarter points in the loss.
“We never really matched their intensity,” James said. “We battled and scrapped to keep it close, but a rough shooting third quarter hurt our chances.
