Revenue from half-cent sales taxes was up in the latest monthly distribution.

Texas County merchants collected about 3.8 percent more sales tax in the first month of the year than the same monthly period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally for each of three half-cent sales taxes was about $75,477, up about $2,790 on each.  The revenue is earmarked for debt retirement for the Texas County Justice Center, capital improvements and day-to-day operations.

An eighth-cent sales tax for 911 operations totaled $55,922.
