Donald Eugene Stockard, 82, son of Ray and Claudine Conrad Stockard, was born July 10, 1933, in Creston, Iowa. He passed away Feb. 12, 2016, at home in Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Billy; and one sister Jane. He is survived by his wife, Patti of Springfield; one daughter, Carole Lowrance (Wayne) of Springfield; two sons, Tim (Suzanne) of Carlyle, Ill., and Joe (Debra) of Houston, Mo.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Cathy) of Pittsburgh, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Joyce McDaniels of Chesapeake, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In 1950, Don’s family moved from Creston to Solo, Mo. Don graduated from Houston High School in 1952. He served in the Air Force after high school. He then attended and graduated from SMSU in 1960.
In 1956, Don married Patti Jordan. To this union, three children were born.
Don ran a successful insurance agency for over 30 years. He was very active in community affairs, and was also a sports enthusiast who loved to play golf and tennis. Don and Patti enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona, where they performed in many theater productions. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and leaves behind many friends and loved ones.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the United Methodist Church of Houston, Mo. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Solo, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Pregnancy Resource Center of South Central Missouri. Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
