Firefighters were called Sunday morning to a house fire on Florence Street in Houston.

Both Houston fire departments responded at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday to a fire at a residence at 406 Florence St.

City of Houston Fire Department Chief Joey Moore said two trucks and eight firefighters from his department went to the scene, along with one truck and two personnel from Houston Rural.

The Licking and Raymondville departments were contacted for additional personnel, but their calls were cancelled before they arrived.

Moore said responders located the fire in the ceiling of a bedroom and were able to bring it under control shortly after making entry into the residence. The blaze appeared to have started around an electrical junction box in the attic.

The residence is owned by Norma Bridges and is rented by Ron Rupe.
