Houston senior Sarah Kelley drives to the basket in the Lady Tigers' first meeting of the season against Salem.

Houston Lady Tigers coach Brent Kell hopes Hiett Gymnasium is packed for Monday night’s conference showdown with Salem. He says his team deserves it.

“There’s no reason our fans can’t come out and support these girls,” Kell said. “They’re playing their hearts out and playing good basketball.”

HHS (14-4) squares off with Salem in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the South Central Association. The teams split their previous two meetings with Houston winning 63-56 at the Cabool Holiday Tournament and Salem returning the favor with a 52-40 win in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament.

Tonight’s winner figures to have the upperhand to win the conference crown.

“It’ll be a good, hardfought ballgame,” Kell said. “We’re looking forward to it. We’ll be ready.”
