Hunter Education

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host an annual hunter skills class fromĀ 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, March 19, atĀ Faith Fellowship Church in Bucyrus.

MDC officials remind the public:

•People born on or after Jan. 1, 1967, mustĀ satisfy Missouri’s hunter education requirement to purchase deer and turkey hunting permits.

•Adults aiding in youth hunts are required to be hunter education certified before the hunt.

•Students must be at least 11 years old to participate in the hunter education program.

•The hunter education program consists of both knowledge and skills portions.

•Students must complete the ā€œknowledgeā€ portion of the class before attending the hunter ā€œskillsā€ class. The knowledge portion may be completed online, in a classroom, or by obtaining the hunter education book from the Houston branch of the Texas County Library and completing the end of chapter review questions before attending the skills class.Ā
