A wave of fires popped up Monday across the county. 

At early afternoon,  grass fires were reported at 16818 Highway N, Licking, and 13265 Highway 17, south of Slabtown.

Fires in the Summersville area: Just before 2 p.m., grass fires were reported at 5895 Highway K near Highway KK. Summersville and Raymondville departments were called. Another is reported at Grapevine Hollow Retreat off of Highway K onto Old Salem Road.

At about 3:25 p.m., the Houston Rural Fire Department responded to a reported grass fire that spread to an outbuilding at 9045 Highway E.

At 4:10 p.m., the Roby Fire Department was dispatched to a field fire on Mill Road. It was extinguished quickly by those already on hand, and the department wasn’t required.

At 5:15 p.m. an outbuilding was reported on fire on 10504 Mill Road. The Roby Fire Department responded; the Houston Rural Fire Department was placed on standby.
