Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff's Department were called to several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy responded at about 9:20 p.m. Feb. 19 after a woman reported a man and woman fighting in the middle of Bradford Road at Clear Springs. The officer was unable to locate them.

•A 29-year-old Houston man called Feb. 17 to report that his dog – a small Yorkshire terrier – had been attacked by a neighbor’s pit bull.

The man showed an investigating officer the dog’s wound on its right side and the officer observed it was bleeding badly. The man said the attacking dog had run off when he hit it with a stick.

The officer made contact with the 66-year-old woman who owns the pit bull and explained that she would be responsible for vet bills.

•A deputy was dispatched to the Mountain Grove Police Department at about 8:50 p.m. Feb. 18 regarding a report of a stolen truck.

A police officer told the deputy a woman had come to the station and reported her 1993 Toyota pickup had been swiped by her 29-year-old grandson and his 26-year-old girlfriend. After an investigation, the truck and both suspects were located at a Donald Lane residence.

Probable cause statements were sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against both suspects of stealing a motor vehicle.

•A man representing a business in Mountain Grove reported Feb. 12 that a 52-year-old Cabool man who is a former employee had stolen several tools and chains with a total value of $615 from inside a truck parked on the firm’s lot on Business 60. After an investigation, a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the suspect.

•A Cabool woman called Feb. 19 to report that trash from a neighbor man’s property was blowing onto her Highway U property. The neighbor was contacted and verbally warned, and he agreed to clean up the trash.

•A Success man called on Feb. 17 to complain about another man’s driving. The man was advised that officers would be on the lookout for the bad driver.

•A 27-year-old Houston man came to the TCSD office Feb. 17 to report that his vehicle had been stolen.

An investigating officer determined the man had actually loaned the 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier to a 25-year-old Licking man but didn’t know he was.

Contact was made with the man who had the car and he agreed to return it the next day.

•An 86-year-old Solo man came to the TCSD office on Feb. 16 to report that numerous items with a total value of $6,654 had been stolen from a house he owns on Highway UU. The man listed his step-grandchildren as suspects, and investigation of the case continues.
