Tommy “Tom” Bert Lewis, 72, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016.

He was born Aug. 24, 1943, son of Thomas Barney and Edna Speaks Lewis.

He served in the Army in the United States and Vietnam. He received the a commendation medal.

He traveled worldwide for Arthur Heavy Equipment Company in Irving, Texas. He later settled in Houston and establishing Lewis Equipment Company for the past 20 years.

He spent many hours helping nieces and nephews with car problems. He loved the outdoors, riding horseback and water sports. He enjoyed dancing with the Fosters Outback Dance Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don Lewis; and two sisters, Bobbie Nell and Brenda Joy.

Survivors include a daughter, Teri Lewis Meek of Houston; an adopted son, Brian Lewis of Houston; six siblings, Wanda Lewis Clayton and Gary Lewis of Sulphur Springs, Texas; Dorothy Lewis Hargrave of McKinney, Texas; Travis Eugene Lewis of Houston; and Judy Lewis and Richard Lewis of Irving, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special friend, Donnis Newman.

Graveside inurnment is Monday, Feb. 15, in Tira Methodist Church Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
