The Houston Rural Fire Department responded to a structure fire at about noon Saturday.

The Houston Rural Fire Department was called at about noon Saturday to a report of a structure fire east of Houston.

An outbuilding and nearby grass was on fire near Morton and Lay roads, authorities said.

The Raymondville Fire Department was later called for assistance.

At about 12:30 p.m., the Houston Fire Department was called to 1223 E. Crest Drive where a grass fire was close to a home. The homeowner was able to extinguish it before volunteers’ arrival.

At about 1:30 p.m., about 40 acres were reported burning at Sackett and Amburn Roads. Another blaze was at 19632 Amburn Road that was close to structures.

At 2 p.m., the Roby and Plato Fire Departments were called to a house fire at 12404 Clay Lane. The structure was reported to be vacant.

At about 3 p.m., the Clear Springs Fire Department was called to 1446 Chapel Road.

At about 3:50 p.m., a fire was reported west of 8500 Highway KK. Huggins and Plato departments were called.
