The Houston tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory in Monday’s season opener against Waynesville.
The Tigers swept singles play. Sarah Kelley blanked her opponent 8-0 and Lucas Kelley, Grady Todd and Yuka Katogi were all 8-3 winners. Shelby Cremer won her match 8-2 and Celina Castleman was victorious 8-4.
In doubles play, Sarah and Lucas Kelley teamed up for an 8-2 win. Katogi and Todd also won 8-1. Cremer and Castleman were defeated 8-6.
In other singles matches, Trenton Smith won 6-2 and Marley Stoops prevailed 7-6 (1). In doubles play, Dill and Sarah Kelley were beated 6-4 and Castleman and Darby Bell lost 6-2.
