Houston police officers recently handled several investigations. 

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Kodey L. Campbell, 22, of 8148 Morton Road in Houston, was issued a citation for driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Second Street at about 1:45 a.m. Feb. 28.

An officer made the stop after observing black Chevrolet Camaro traveling with a broken taillight. After making contact with the driver, the officer smelled alcohol and field sobriety tests were conducted.

Campbell was taken to the Texas County Jail for a 6-hour hold period.

•Sonya R. Byrd, 33, of 18230 Brushy Creek Road in Houston, was issued a citation for driving while revoked after a traffic stop on Holder Drive at about 5:50 p.m. Feb. 27.

•An officer was dispatched at about 12:15 a.m. Feb. 28 regarding a report of a man waving his hands at passing vehicles and almost falling into traffic on Airport Road at Highway 17. The officer located the man and recognized him as a person with an active Texas County warrant for DWI – persistent offender, driving while revoked and failure to drive on the right side of the highway: David K. Hogue, 33, of 7444 N. Highway 17 in Houston. Hogue was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail, where he was unable to post $150,000 bond.

•Patrick A. Dodson, 35, of 309 S. Second St. in Houston, was arrested Feb. 25 for having an active City of Houston warrant for stealing under $500 and an active Phelps County warrant for driving while revoked. Dodson was arrested after an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in which he was a passenger.

•Michael D. Collins, 31, of 705 W. Highway 17 in Houston, was arrested March 1 for having active Winona Police Department warrants for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to register a motor vehicle. An officer who had been advised of the warrants arrested Collins at his residence. He was taken to the Texas County Jail before being extradited to Shannon County.

•Shaun C. Cross, 24, of 18015 Emmett Kelly Road at Houston, was arrested Feb. 25 for having an active Texas County felony warrant for tampering with a motor vehicle. An officer made the arrest at the state probation and parole office after being advised Cross was there.

While in the parking lot at the probation office, Cross ran away into a nearby lumberyard. A second police officer and multiple Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputies assisted in locating him after a pursuit into an adjacent trailer park and back to the lumberyard.

A deputy finally apprehended Cross and he was taken to jail. He was advised that another felony charge would be sought against him of resisting arrest by feeling.

•Austin E. Sears, 21, of 2580 Highway M at Cabool, was arrested Feb. 23 for having an active Texas County warrant for second-degree assault. An officer made the arrest at the state probation and parole office after being advised Sears was there.

He was taken to the Texas County Jail, where he was unable to post $250,000 bond.
