A southwest Missouri superintendent has been named to the top spot at the Summersville School District.

Rick Stark, superintendent of the Jasper County R-V School District, will assume duties July 1.

Stark, who is finishing his doctoral program through the University of Missouri, has a bachelor’s degree in English education from Missouri Southern State University at Joplin. He earned his master’s degree in educational administration from Missouri State University in Springfield and specialist degree from William Woods University.

During the past nine years, he has been superintendent at Ballard R-II School District and Jasper County R-V, where worked the last five years. Previously, he was a principal at Archie and Hume. He taught English for seven years.

He and his wife have one son, who will be a ninth grader next year.
