Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff's Department were called to several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A Houston woman called April 3 to report someone had poisoned her dog and stomped it to death.

An investigating officer made contact with the woman at her Brushy Creek Road residence and she stated she had taken the dog’s body to a veterinarian who told her it had actually been in a fight with another dog and sustained numerous puncture wounds on the legs, neck and face. She said the dog that had won the fight had multiple puncture marks on its neck and ears.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 5:15 a.m. April 2 after a man reported there were several people who wanted to kill him surrounding his Lynch Road residence at Bucyrus.

The officer made contact with the man and he said he had just gotten out of the hospital after an overdose of meth the previous day. The man stated people were giving him “bad dope,” and he had just done a “hot shot.”

The officer requested an ambulance, and its crew measured the man’s heart rate was at 140 beats per minute and determined he was paranoid and delusional. He was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital.

•Ronald L. Coleman, 26, of 220 Carter St., Apt. 14, in Licking, was arrested April 1 for having an active Licking municipal warrant for second-degree assault.

A deputy arrested Coleman at his place of work in Raymondville after being advised by Licking police that he was there. He was taken to the Texas County Jail.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 8:30 p.m. March 31 regarding a disturbance at a Millstone Road residence at Houston.

A man who lives there told the officer another man had come to his house and tried to start a fight. But the man declined filling out a statement about the incident because he said he didn’t want the other man to get in trouble.

•A woman called at about 5:25 p.m. March 31 to request a well-being check on her daughter. An investigating officer determined the daughter was with her grandparents at a restaurant in Cabool and she was fine.

•A deputy investigated a report of gunfire at a Success Road residence at Success on March 30.

The officer spoke to a multiple people who were at the location during the incident and determined an argument had occurred between two men, ages 38 and 18. Witnesses reportedly stated the 38-year-old man fired five shots straight up into the air with a 9-millimeter pistol.

The case is still being investigated.

•At about 4:15 p.m. March 28, a man reported that another man was on his Highway 17 property and wouldn’t leave. When an investigating officer arrived, the man who wouldn’t leave had left.
