Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Sales tax revenue dipped about 2 percent in Houston during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $57,982, which was down about $1,101 from the same period a year ago. For the first quarter of the year, $182,665 has been collected. That’s up $1,597 from last year.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for street, sidewalk and utility improvements. Each generated about $14,166. An eighth-cent sales tax — for debt retirement on a fire truck — generated $7,083.
