Pre-opening tours of the Lone Star Plaza Annex are planned today in Houston.
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in buildings that were rehabilitated north of the Lone Star Plaza. Entrances are also on Main Street.
Downtown Houston Inc. launched the projects, which includes a community room that is available for rental for meetings and gatherings, a community kitchen that can be rented for food preparation and office space occupied by the University of Missouri Texas County Extension. MU Extension will staff will showcase their space from 10 a.m. until noon.
In all, three empty store fronts were restored.
Among the displays on site will be one devoted to the Melba Theatre. Downtown Houston Inc. met last week with a contractor to discuss plans for restoration of the iconic venue, which was built in 1938.
