Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•William T. Hebert, 30, of 5027 Marquis Road in Summersville, was arrested April 17 for having an active warrant (type unknown).

A deputy made the arrest after investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle at about 8 p.m. on Brushy Creek Road at Houston. The officer made contact with a man at his residence who said another man driving a white Ford Explorer had repeatedly come to his home asking if there were any houses for rent in the area.

The complainant said the suspect had been there before asking the same question and afterward he had discovered things had been stolen. The man gave the officer numbers from the suspicious vehicle’s license plate. The officer searched the area and located a vehicle bearing plates with those numbers on the side of the road with its hood up.

The deputy made contact with the vehicle’s driver – Hebert – and the warrant was revealed during a routine identification check.

•A woman called at about 9:45 p.m. April 16 to report her husband went into the woods to look for a dog near their Red Spring Road residence at Mountain Grove and had been gone for more than an hour.

A deputy was dispatched to investigate, but before the officer arrived on the scene, the woman called again to say her husband had come home.

•A Plato woman called April 12 to report her 17-year-old daughter was missing. An investigating officer determined the girl was living with a man she met five days earlier at his house in Lebanon and she was OK.

•On April 13, a deputy assisted a Division of Family services worker with an investigation at Cabool High School. A school employee stated a 15-year-old girl had reported that her 54-year-old father had put her in a headlock and choked her.

The officer determined there was no evidence to support the girl’s claim.

•A man called April 16 to report that another man would not let him water his cows at a property on Osage Lane at Licking.

An investigating officer made contact with the man who owns the property and he said he didn’t want the other man to water his cows on the property. The cows’ owner said he would move the animals.

•Just after midnight April 15, a deputy assisted Houston police in a search for two men dressed in black at First and Ozark streets. The officers were unable to locate the men.
