KEEGAN SPURLIN

Houston senior Keegan Spurlin has been selected to represent the Tigers in next month’s annual Grin Iron Classic.

Spurlin, who was named to the football all-star game as an offensive lineman, will represent the East team in the June 3 game at Parkview High School’s JFK Stadium in Springfield. Spurlin is one of 10 players selected from the South Central Association.

More than 130 local high school athletes in southwest Missouri will be featured in the all-star weekend that features the 15th annual football game on Friday night and fifth annual volleyball game –– Grin Action Classic –– on Saturday.

Spurlin was the top offensive lineman among a group of four HHS seniors that paved the way for 1,401 rushing yards in 2015. The Tigers had a 4-6 record.

Spurlin’s East team will practice Sunday, May 29, through Thursday, June 2, at Lebanon High School. The team is coached by Lebanon’s Will Christian.

The Sertoma All-Star Weekend benefits the “Tooth Truck,” a mobile dental clinic for at-risk children who qualify for free and reduced school lunches. Last year’s all-star events contributed more than $50,000 to the cause.
