The Missouri Department of Conservation says black bears are on the move this time of year, but are naturally fearful of humans and prefer to mind their own business as they forage for natural foods in fields and forests.

A bear was injured in a collision with a vehicle early Tuesday evening on U.S. 60 near the Howell and Texas County line.

A Missouri Department of Conservation official was called to the scene at Highway AM and U.S. 60, but the animal fled into the woods. The bear appeared to be wearing a white tag.
