The University of Missouri Texas County Extension and the Texas County Health Department are teaming to offer “Food Safety from Field to Market,” a produce food safety training for farmers, farmers market vendors and anyone with an interest in growing and marketing safe produce. 

The training is from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the MU Extension office on Main Street in downtown Houston It will include information based on good agricultural practices and the Food Safety Modernization Act.

Topics will include microbial contaminants, worker hygiene and health, water and flooding, soil, manure and compost, harvest and post-harvest handling of crops and recordkeeping. 

Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.
