KALEN J. HALL

A Licking man is held without bond after allegedly attempting to drown a woman Monday in a ditch full of rainwater.

Licking Police Chief Scott Lindsey said an officer was dispatched at about 8:41 p.m. regarding a domestic disturbance on Beth Street. Upon arrival, the officer discovered a group of people in the street.

The officer spoke to a 29-year-old woman and witnesses at the scene and determined Kalen J. Hall, 31, of Licking, nearly struck the woman with his truck while she was walking along the street, according to a report. The woman reportedly attempted to flee into a nearby yard, but Hall pursued her on foot, hitting her and knocking her to the ground.

The officer stated the man then dragged the woman to a ditch filled with standing water and held her head under water until neighbors in the area intervened.

Hall was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.  County prosecutor Parke Stevens Jr. on Tuesday charged Hall with felony first-degree domestic assault – serious physical injury.
