Two weeks of swimming lessons have been announced this month in Houston.
The morning sessions are June 20-24 and June 27 through July 1. Michael Roy is the instructor.
Four levels are offered by the city:
- Level 1 – Kiddie pool. Uncomfortable in water, does not put face in. Will learn to be comfortable in water, hold breath and go under water.
- Level 2 – Kiddie pool, deep end and big pool, shallow end. Comfortable in water, can put face in. Will learn to float on front and back and back stroke.
- Level 3 – Big pool, shallow end. Can already float on front and back and comfortably put their face in water. Will work on improving basic front stroke and back stroke.
- Level 4 – Big pool, deep end. Interested in competitive stroke and being prepared for swim team.
The schedule for both weeks is: Level 4, 8-9 a.m.; Level 3, 9-10 a.m.; Level 2, 10-11 a.m.; Level 1, 11 a.m. until noon.
Cost is $25 for levels 1 and 2 or $30 for levels 3 and 4. Swimmers may sign up 30 minutes prior to lessons beginning.
