Shoppers in Houston will save a little money beginning today when a sale tax expires.
The Missouri Department of Revenue said a one-eighth cent sales tax for a new fire truck expired June 30.
That drops the total sales tax paid in Houston to 7.6 percent. Of that, 1.5 percent is earmarked for city purposes, 1.5 percent for the county and the balance in state taxes. Â
