The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:
•Billy J. Burke, 37, of 16466 Forrest Drive in Houston, was issued a citation July 8 for driving while intoxicated.
An officer cited Burke after observing a blue 1990 Dodge Dakota moving erratically and turning without signaling and then initiating a traffic stop on Oak Hill Drive.
After making contact with the driver, the officer observed a bottle of whiskey on the seat next to him, according to a report. Burke was taken to the Texas County Jail.
•Amber D. Kirk, 27, of 112 N. Hamrick Ave. in Houston, was arrested July 1 for having five active Texas County felony warrants.
An officer who was aware of the warrants made the arrest after observing Kirk outside her residence at about 11:20 p.m. The warrants included one for hindering prosecution of a felony, one for receiving stolen property, one for possession of a controlled substance and two for other drug charges.
She was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond.
•Alex J. Collins, 27, of 329 Ozark St. in Cabool, was arrested July 1 for having an active Texas County warrant for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Collins was arrested after he came to the HPD station regarding another matter. He was taken to the Texas County Jail, where he was unable to post $100,000 bond.
•Macie D. Mitchell, 25, of 2457 S. U.S. 63 in Cabool, was arrested July 7 for having an active Licking municipal warrant for driving while revoked and stealing. An officer made the arrest at the state probation and parole office in Houston after being advised that Mitchell was there. She was taken to the Texas County Jail where she was unable to post $200 bond.
•Shane L. Briggs, 30, of 22707 Pike Lane at Hartshorn, was arrested July 7 for having active Mountain Grove municipal warrants for assault, trespassing and peace disturbance.
An officer who was aware of the warrants made the arrest at a Holt Street residence at about 9 p.m. Briggs was taken to the Texas County Jail to await extradition to Mountain Grove.
He also had a Shannon County warrant for non-support.
•An officer was dispatched at about 10:40 p.m. July 1 regarding a report of a house fire at an Ozark Street residence.
Upon arrival, the officer determined the house was not burning, but there was a large pile of debris blazing in the back yard, with flames about 10 feet high. The City of Houston Fire Department responded and firefighters extinguished the fire.
As a result, Jackson C. Morgan, 39, of 300 W. Ozark St., was cited for unlawful disposal of solid waste – illegal burning. During the investigation, a glass smoking device containing marijuana was found and Morgan was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
•Zachary J. Thurman, 20, of 124 N. Friend St., No. 10, in Licking, was cited for stealing under $500 after allegedly swiping two sodas from the Murphy USA gas station on U.S. 63 in Houston on June 26.
Thurman was cited after a manager reported that an employee had taken the drinks from a cooler and drank them without paying, and had still not paid by 3 p.m. the next day. He was fired, according to the report.
