Sales tax revenue decreased during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from sales taxes collected in the City of Houston dropped about 5 percent each from the same monthly period in 2015, the Missouri Department of Revenue said.

The total from a one-cent sales tax totaled $62,124, which was down from $3,111 from the same monthly period a year ago.

For the first six months of the year, the total collected is $367,515, which is up $6,955 from the same period a year ago.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes each tallied $15,281, which was down $717 on each. In the first half of the year, about $89,201 has been collected on each. That’s up about $2,878 on each one.

Revenue from a since expired eighth-cent sales tax for fire truck debt repayment totaled $7,640.  That levy expired July 1.
