Scott Long, right, makes announcements during last year's Junior Livestock Sale at the Texas County Fair. Long was hired last week as Houston High School's new agriculture instructor and FFA advisor.

The Houston school board hired a new agriculture instructor and FFA adviser as well as accepted two late resignations during the closed session of last week’s special session.

Scott Long was employed to fill the void left by the departure of Josh Roehrs for the 2016-’17 school year. The board also hired Tori Richardson as middle school volleyball coach.

The board accepted resignations from HHS head boys’ basketball coach Matthew Hardy and Brandon Sigman, an elementary teacher. Both were charged $1,000 for breaking contacts after June 1.
