Taylor Chipps had three hits to lead the Houston High School softball team to a season-opening 15-13 victory Friday at Stoutland.
The Lady Tigers (1-0) took a 9-0 lead through four innings and never trailed. Sophomore Emily Roberts was the winning pitcher.
Five different HHS players – Carly Crawford, Kaitlyn Root, Stephani Crewse, Madison Lawson and Ellie Bradshaw – had two hits apiece in the win. Roberts and Madison Curtis both had one hit.
Houston is 5-0 in season openers under coach Brent Hall. The last four wins were against Stoutland.
