The Houston High School volleyball team narrowly missed a road victory Thursday night in a 25-22, 26-24 loss at Cuba.

The score was much closer for HHS (0-2) than Tuesday’s season-opening loss at Licking.

“We played much better,” Lady Tigers coach Loran Richardson said. “We served tough and had some great plays. We just need to learn to be more consistent with passing and not let teams go on serving runs.”

Senior Emily Shea had three of the team’s nine aces. Alyssa Hayes led HHS with four kills. Alexis Choate and Chloe Hunninghake had four assists apiece.

Shea and Sevanna Rowland led Houston with 14 digs apiece. Melody Buse had 13.
