Texas County deputies handled a variety of calls during the last week. 

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy was dispatched at about 8:15 p.m. July 31 to assist the Mountain Grove Police Department with finding a man at a Rock Springs road residence who is a suspect in a case. The officer made contact with the suspect’s grandfather, who said he no longer lived there.

•A deputy responded at about 5:45 p.m. July 31 to a report of a man walking along Highway M at Roby and approaching houses. The officer made contact with the man and gave him a courtesy ride to Walt’s Convenience Store.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 12:45 a.m. July 31 regarding a report of a prowler at a Shumake Drive residence at Raymondville. The officer made contact with a woman who lives there who said two men had been standing in her driveway and started laughing when she came outside, and then walked away on a dirt road.

The officer was unable to locate them.

•An officer was dispatched at about 11:40 p.m. July 29 after a woman reported hearing screaming coming from a Highway B residence.

The officer made contact with the man who owns the house, who said nobody had been screaming. The man had all his friends who were there come outside so the officer could see that everyone was Okay.

•A 76-year-old Licking woman reported on July 30 that a large steel chicken valued at $250 had been stolen from the front of the driveway at her Highway 32 residence. There are no suspects.

•At about 4:50 a.m. July 29, an officer assisted an ambulance crew with a reported intentional drug overdose by a woman at a Mount Zion Road residence at Mountain Grove. Upon arrival, the officer observed that the woman was alert but impaired. She was taken to a hospital.

•On July 10, a deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Varvel Road residence at Willow Springs.

The officer made contact with a 33-year-old man who lives there who said a 32-year-old woman resident there had threatened him with a loaded shotgun. The officer spoke with the woman, who appeared intoxicated. She reportedly became beligerent during questioning, and was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.

A .12 gauge Remington shotgun was seized as evidence, and a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the woman of unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and third-degree assault.

•A representative of Licking Post and Timber called July 25 to report that a Stihl chainsaw and an air compressor with a total value of $1,139 had been swiped from the parts room at the business. Investigation of the case continues.
