The Miss Texas County pageant was over the weekend at the community building in at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. More than 400 people attended the various shows in which lots of new titles were handed out in several categories.

In the afternoon showcase the girls and boys showed their many talents. The people’s choice awards were given to Rebekah McGiboney and Abigail Perkins.

In the evening show the titles of Miss Texas County was awarded to Ashley Cummins and first runner-up went to Janissa Portincaso. Miss Texas County’s Outstanding Teen was won by Athena Hood, Miss Southern Missouri’s Outstanding Teen went to Allisyn Neal with first runner-up Amelia McKinney.

The Miss and Outstanding Teens winners will go on and compete in Mexico, Mo., next June for the state titles. These young ladies will be in the community doing community service projects throughout the year.

Scholarship sponsors for the new Miss Texas County and Southern Missouri titles were provided by The Bank of Houston, Progressive Ozark Bank, Security Bank of the Ozarks, Landmark Bank, V.I.P. Properties, Farmers Insurance Group Willow Springs, Cynthia Jones-Ramsey, agent; Southern Missouri Investments, Jim Bukowsky; and Delbert and Elaine Campbell.

Another fundraiser and mentorship for these ladies happened in the early evening with the new Mrs. Texas County — Cassie Carter being crowned along with Mrs. Southern Missouri Sandra Stow, Mrs. Mid-Missouri Bethany Hood, Mrs. Piney River Jennifer Depler, Mrs. Ozark Mountains Tiffany Davy and Mrs. Heart of Texas County Emily Doosing.
