Several pageants are planned Saturday in Houston.

Final preparations are underway for the 16th annual Miss Texas County Pageant today at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Community Building at the fairgrounds in Houston. 

The afternoon showcase begins at 1 p.m. with 27 contestants from across the county, including Houston, Licking, Raymondville, Success and other areas in which they will be showcasing their talents, onstage question, party dress and their princess outfit of their choice. They will be awarded Tiny Princess, Little Princess, Petite Princess and Pre-Teen Princess awards.

Also in the afternoon there will be young men competing for the titles of Tiny Prince, Little Prince and Mr. Prince. These young gentleman will compete in onstage question, Sunday Best and “show us your favorite prince.” 

The evening show begins at 6 p.m. with contestants vying for the titles of  Miss Texas County, Miss Texas County’s Outstanding Teen, Miss Southern Missouri and Miss Southern Missouri’s Outstanding Teen. These young women will compete in interview, talent, evening wear, on-stage question and lifestyle fitness. The winners of these titles will go onto Miss Missouri next June in Mexico, Mo., and will compete for the state titles. 

The evening show at the beginning will also have a new mentoring title for the pageant. Ladies will compete for the title of Mrs. Texas County and Mrs. Southern Missouri. These ladies will help mentor other ladies. They will compete in interview, evening wear, modeling outfit of their choice and talent.

The awards for the afternoon showcase are provided by Progressive Ozark Bank. The crowns for the evening show are provided by Medlock’s Body Shop in Houston.
