Junior Kaitlyn Root had three hits and five RBIs to lead the Houston softball team past Seymour 14-1 on the road Monday.
Tori McCloud, Taylor Chipps and Stephani Crewse had two hits apiece for the Lady Tigers (5-6).
Sophomore Emily Roberts struck out three in the complete-game victory.
Over the weekend, Houston finished fourth in the Walnut Grove Tournament.
The fifth-seeded Lady Tigers opened the tournament Friday night with a 2-0 victory against the host team.
Carly Crawford was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored.
Roberts scattered four hits and struck out two.
In Saturday’s semifinals, Houston was shut out for the third time this season in a 7-0 loss to top-seeded El Dorado Springs.
Ellie Bradshaw and Roberts had the team’s lone hits. McCloud and Kameron Hall each walked twice.
In the third-place game, McCloud had Houston’s lone hit in a 10-1 loss to Morrisville.
Chipps knocked in the Lady Tigers’ only run with a first-inning sacrifice fly that scored McCloud, who had walked.
Last Tuesday, HHS lost 15-0 at Salem and fell to 0-2 in the South Central Association.
Houston has failed to score a run in its two conference games.
