The Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department will host the third annual “Festival of Yesteryear” from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 15) at the Raymondville Fairgrounds.

The fundraising event will feature numerous attractions and activities, including authentic demonstrations featuring blacksmiths, weavers, spinners, leather smiths, Dutch oven cooking, chair caning, butter churning and more. Booths will be set up where crafts and work by regional artists will be on display and available for purchase, with some vendors dressed in period clothing.

Other planned activities include stagecoach rides, train rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, music, dancing, sack races, an egg-and-spoon race, a jump rope contest and a wide variety of games.

Several groups and organizations will offer a variety of foods, including the Raymondville Fire Department, Village of Raymondville, Blue Heaven Club, Raymondville P.T.O., Summersville Volunteer Fire Department and more. Planned choices include kettle corn, pork rinds, funnel cakes, baked goods, and home made candy and jerky.
