The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy assisted Houston police at about 12:30 a.m. Oct. 8 in trying to locate a male suspect who had fled on foot from a location on King Street toward Highway 17. The officers were unable to locate him.
•A deputy responded at about 3:10 p.m. Oct. 8 to a 911 report of a suicidal woman with a knife at a Whispering Pines Lane residence in Houston. Upon arrival, the officer observed that the woman had calmed down and she was willing to be voluntarily taken away by ambulance.
•A 46-year-old Cabool man called Oct. 9 to report that several items with a total value of $5,850 had been stolen from properties he owns on Grandview Road and Tyrone Road east of Houston.
The man told an investigating officer that missing items included a Ford sickle mower valued at $3,600, three Chevrolet engines with a total value of $2,200 and a green couch worth $50. The officer spoke with a woman who lives in the area and she said she hadn’t seen anyone hauling away any of the goods or noticed any unusual traffic.
•A 60-year-old Bucyrus man reported at about 8:30 a.m. Oct. 9 that a man who is a neighbor of his Highway 17 residence was playing music too loud. An investigating officer reported that the music could be heard from outside, but that it wasn’t excessively loud and kids could be heard playing in the yard over the music.
The officer contacted both men, and the man playing the music said he would turn it down if that would resolve what was described as an ongoing problem between the neighbors.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 7 regarding a report of a prowler near Walt’s convenience store on Highway 17 at Roby. The officer searched the area, including around an adjacent church, but was unable to locate the suspect.
•A 55-year-old Raymondville man called Oct. 8 to report that a wooden board valued at $10 and a set of pliers valued at $5 had been stolen from his Splitlimb Road residence. There are no suspects.
