Texas County Sheriff James Sigman said Thursday night that shooting suspect Daniel Campbell remains at large.
Sigman contacted the Herald at 7:30 p.m. to dispel rumors that Campbell had been found. Around 2 p.m. Thursday, a Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter located the Ford Ranger that Campbell stole and fled from the scene where he allegedly killed one man and critically injured another. But Sigman said Campbell, 39, was not there.
The vehicle, which belonged to one of the shooting victims, was located near Paddy Creek Road.
“We do not have him,” Sigman said, “and I do not want people relaxing.”
Sigman said Campbell should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him or something suspicious should contact the Texas County Sheriff’s Department at 417-967-4165 or the closest law enforcement agency.
