A Houston man is to appear next month in Texas County Circuit Court.

A Houston man waived formal arraignment Oct. 4 in Texas County Circuit Court on charges of abusing a girl and possessing illegal drugs.

Jonathan D. Southworth, 29, who is free on $500,000 bond, is to appear in court for pending motions and other matters at 9 a.m. Nov. 8.

Authorities allege Southworth, who was arrested Aug. 18, inappropriately touched the girl on June 17 inside his home. She had stayed the night there with a friend.

After posting bond, he was arrested again when authorities executed a search warrant at his home. He was charged with felony possession of controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia after authorities discovered vials of anabolic steroids and 104 unused hypodermic needles with syringes.

Southworth’s bond was revoked at that time, but he was released on bond with a series of conditions. Following the original charges, he was indicted by a grand jury and the case was transferred directly to circuit court.
