Authorities have identified a man killed in a Tuesday night shooting southwest of Licking as they continue to search for the suspect.

Texas County Coroner Tom Whittaker said Billy Dale Bishop II, 38, of Licking, died at the scene on Boiling Springs Road. A second person, William T. Dumboski, 55, was airlifted to a Springfield hospital in critical condition.

The suspect, Daniel Glen Campbell, 39, is still on the loose. After the shootings, he fled in Bishop’s 1997 Ford Ranger pickup that is black with a green grille and front bumper. The license plate number is 6UX 841. Lt. Wes Campbell of the Texas County Sheriff’s Department said Campbell is considered armed and dangerous.

Texas County deputy Rowdy Douglas said witnesses identified Campbell as the shooter, saying he appeared out of the darkness with weapons in each hand and made “several unusual remarks.” Witnesses at the scene told Douglas the following:

•Campbell fired one shot, striking Dumboski and causing him to fall to the ground. One shot was later fired while he was on the ground.

•He fired one round at Bishop, striking him on the left side of the head. He later fired another shot at him.

•Campbell went to a pickup in the driveway and placed something inside. He then returned where the men had been shot and placed a pistol underneath the chin of one of the witnesses for several seconds.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Texas County Sheriff’s Department responded shortly after 7 p.m. to the home at 15152 Boiling Springs Road. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and Dumboski was transported after a landing zone was established by the Roby Fire Department.

Earlier this morning, authorities gathered at Success to debrief about the crime, and continue to patrol the area throughout the day.

Anyone with information should contact the county sheriff’s department at 417-967-4165 or their nearest law enforcement agency.
