The annual holiday campaign to assist those in need begins this month in Texas County.
Tanya Pacheco, director of the Texas County Food Pantry, said Salvation Army bell ringing starts Friday in Licking and Nov. 25 in Houston and Cabool. This year’s fundraising goal is $24,000.
Red kettles will be located at the Houston Walmart as well as Town & Country in Cabool and Licking. Eighty-five percent of funds raised – providing lodging, transportation, clothing, furniture, groceries, health care, school supplies and other aid to residents of our community – will remain in the county.
“This holiday season, when you hear the ringing of a Salvation Army bell and see the red kettle, please offer your support,” Pacheco said. “We need your help even more this year as funding cuts take effect and even more people come to us with emergency needs.”
To sign up as a volunteer to ring the bell at the red kettle, call the Texas County Food Pantry at 417-967-4484.
“Thank you for your continuing support of this important community activity,” Pacheco said.
